This Asian-inspired treat is just what you need to serve alongside homemade fried rice, sesame chicken, or even your morning eggs! Savory Chive Pancakes are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and infused with the light onion flavor of chives throughout! They're also a breeze to make, they're ready in under an hour, and are perfect for dipping! So versatile and delicious, Savory Chive Pancakes are the kind of dish you can't get enough of!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter, homemade or store-bought
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chives, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vegetable oil
- dipping sauce, optional, to taste, of your choice, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a large mixing bowl, add the sourdough starter and the water and stir to combine.
Step 2 -Add the egg and the olive oil to the sourdough starter mixture and whisk to combine.
Step 3 -Add the flour to the sourdough starter mixture and stir well to combine into a batter.
Step 4 -Allow the batter to rest for 30 minutes.
Step 5 -Add the chives and the salt to the batter and fold to combine.
Step 6 -In a small, nonstick frying pan over medium heat, add the vegetable oil and allow it to heat for 1 minute.
Step 7 -Add 1/2 cup of the batter to the hot oil and swirl it in the pan so it covers the surface of the pan.
Step 8 -Cook the pancake until it is golden-brown on the bottom, about 1 minute.
Step 9 -Flip the pancake and cook until cooked through, about 1 minute.
Step 10 -Transfer the pancake to a plate and repeat until all of the batter is used.
Step 11 -Using a pizza cutter or a knife, cut the pancakes into small triangles.
Step 12 -Serve with the dipping sauce.
