Ingredients

  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 8 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 slices Canadian bacon
  • 8 slices turkey, cooked
  • dill pickle slices, optional, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -In a large skillet, saute the onions in 1 tablespoon of the butter until tender, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 2 -Transfer the onions to a plate and set them aside.

Step 3 -Spread the barbecue sauce on four slices of the bread.

Step 4 -Layer each slice of bread with one slice of the cheese, 2 slices of the Canadian bacon, 2 slices of the turkey, the pickles, and the cooked onions.

Step 5 -Top the sandwich filling with another slice of cheese.

Step 6 -Cover each sandwich with the remaining slices of the bread.

Step 7 -In the same skillet over medium-low heat, melt the remaining butter.

Step 8 -Cook sandwiches on both sides until golden-brown and the cheese is melted.

Step 9 -Serve.
